The International College of Musical Theatre (ICMT) is thrilled to announce its return to Shanghai with a newly expanded range of programs for both children and adults. Having previously delivered master classes and kids programs in Musical Theatre, ICMT had to close its Shanghai studios due to the pandemic. However, five years later, ICMT has reestablished its presence in Shanghai, offering comprehensive training to a broader audience.
ICMT's CEO, Kenneth Avery-Clark, alongside three other company directors from the UK and Hong Kong, leads this exciting expansion. ICMT China will oversee operations in China, Singapore, and Taiwan, while maintaining a strong connection with ICMT in London. In addition to children's programs, ICMT will now offer a Level 4 Foundation Course validated by Trinity College, London.
The Shanghai training is headed by Nik and Zoe Parks, a husband-and-wife team from Northern Ireland who are longstanding members of the ICMT family. They are currently residing in Shanghai and are spearheading the new initiatives.
Moreover, ICMT is planning several theatre productions that will be produced in London specifically for the Chinese market. Musical theatre has experienced significant growth in recent years, with countries like Singapore, Japan, and South Korea leading the way. China, too, is gaining momentum, hosting both large-scale touring productions from the West and its own mini West End/Broadway in Shanghai, featuring productions in both English and Chinese.
ICMT's vision is to continue to attract international students to its London College and connect its graduates to the global theatre market. With an established presence in New York and a campus in Hamburg, ICMT continues to solidify its role in the international musical theatre industry. Germany, with its third-largest musical theatre industry after New York and London, and most productions centered in Hamburg, is a key part of this strategy.
Stay tuned for more exciting news from Kenneth Avery-Clark and the ICMT as they continue to expand and innovate in the world of musical theatre.
