I’m back!!!

Posted: April 11, 2015 in GODSPELL, My shows

Hello everyone!

It is so hard to keep up with a blog when you are putting together a major UK tour. But it’s done now, on the road and I’m back to reality!

The show has received excellent reviews (a couple of stinkers too but that’s pretty normal, Godspell certainly isn’t everyone’s bag)

The show has played London and Guidlford so far and is opening in Portsmouth tomorrow night!

I have had such a blast directing this show and working with such amazing creative people.

Take a look at a video montage of the Concert!

Godspell first sneak preview here. Amazing voices!

Godspell UK Concert Tour rehearsals are well under way. I’m into my second week of directing ‘the book’ and we have had so many laughs.

This updated version (2012 Broadway) is modern, fast-paced and does not take itself too seriously, well at least not until the end!

The tour opens in London at the Hackney Empire on the 4th and 5th of April.

Here is a little picture I snapped on my iPhone today. The actresses I’m sure will be pleased that I’m putting it in my blog (not) as it’s very glamorous.

The fight scene…

I am pleased to announce that my drama college AMTA has been asked to be the first choir on the UK TOUR of GODSPELL in CONCERT. AMTA participated in the West End Concert last May and it was a sell out show. Get your tickets and learn more about the show here

Just on lunch and so far have seen about 90 people. Lots of talent out there. About another 100 to go. Long day. And the most popular girl songs are…”Take Me or Leave Me” from Rent and “Love You I Do” from Dreamgirls. Most popular boys song “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin.

Over 4 days of first round auditions we saw 300 people.

We are recalling 30. 10% of all those who auditioned.

A few general observations:

– Most popular girl’s song was ‘Get Out and Stay Out’ from the  musical ‘9 to 5’

– Most popular boy’s song was ‘Lost in the Wilderness’

– So many people could sing but did nothing more

– So many women in this business

– Some people looked like they just crawled out of bed

– A lot of voices are damaged (young girls who have nodules already) – Strong lack of technique
